Sweden's Martin Erlandsson had ten birdies, six of them in a row, in the third round of the Moravia Silesia Open presented by ALO Diamonds in the Czech Republic.
If the rest of his card had been bogey free then Erlandsson, who made the cut with nothing to spare at one over par, would have charged all the way into the lead.
However, two bogeys and a double bogey kept him down to a six under 66 at the Miguel Angel Jiménez designed Prosper Resort in Celadna and so the 35 year old was joint tenth and three behind England's Graeme Storm and Steve Webster as they teed off again.
The European Tour record for birdies in a row is 12 set by American Fred Couples in 1991 and matched since by Ernie Els, Russell Claydon and Darren Clarke.
