INTERESTING FACTS
History was made on The European Tour International Schedule in the 2002 event when Arjun Atwal became the first Indian golfer to win a Tour event. The three-time winner on the Asian PGA Tour, led by a single stroke after round three before running out a comfortable winner by five from Australian Richard Green to become the fourth of 14 first-time winners in 2002. Vijay Singh was the first winner of the tournament in 2001 and the former Masters and US PGA Champion, who had won the Carlsberg Malaysian Open the previous week, marks the last time a player has won back-to-back events on The European Tour. Frankie Minoza entered the record books in the 2001 edition by equalling the lowest first 36 holes (125) and the lowest first 36 holes in relation to par (-17) in European Tour history.
