The full field for the 1998 Cisco World Match Play Championship presented by Diners Club International has been announced by Mark McCormack, Chief Executive of IMG and Chairman of the Championship Committee.
The defending and US PGA Champion Vijay Singh; the US Masters and Open Champion Mark O'Meara; World No. 1 Tiger Woods and three-time World Match Play Champion Ernie Els will be joined by the leading five players in the Volvo Ranking following the One 2 One British Masters: Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke, Colin Montgomerie, Patrik Sjöland and Thomas Björn. The three remaining places go to Australian Stuart Appleby and rising stars from the USA Stewart Cink and Steve Stricker.
Ken Schofield, Executive Director PGA European Tour, said "We are delighted that the Committee has recognised the strength of young talent that is emerging on the European Tour and it will be exciting to see these players pitting their skills in head-to-head 36 hole match play against such proven champions".
The timing of the draw for the Cisco World Match Play Championship presented by Diners Club International will be announced at a later date.
