Retief Goosen ascended to the top of the SA Open Championship as overnight leader Steven O'Hara stumbled at the start of his third round.
Scotsman O'Hara, without a win in 222 events going back a decade and fighting for his European Tour life at 134th place on The Race to Dubai, led on 11 under last night but carded bogeys at the sixth, ninth and tenth.
That left him on eight under in a share of 17th as three South Africans took over at the top of the leaderboard on home soil.
Goosen, who was joint second overnight alongside Merrick Bremner, birdied the first three holes and, after bogeying the ninth, immediately picked up another at the tenth to sit three under for the day and 13 under overall.
That put him a stroke clear of compatriots Hennie Otto and Bremner.
Otto was five under through 14 eventful holes which included five birdies, two bogeys and an eagle at the par five 11th, while Bremner, who himself had an eagle at the eighth, was two under after 11.
Magnus Carlsson had the clubhouse lead on 11 under after a six under round of 66, two ahead of, amongst others, Lloyd Saltman of Scotland and England's Richard Bland and Simon Wakefield – all four of whom started the week outside the all-important top 118 on The Race to Dubai.
