The German claimed his maiden European Challenge Tour victory at last week’s Euram Bank Open, just five days after securing his first victory as a professional at the Weihenstephan Open on the Pro Golf Tour.

The 23-year-old’s back-to-back victories meant he became the first player to win two Official World Golf Ranking tournaments in the same week, and in different countries.

“It’s an amazing feeling and it hasn’t really sunk in,” he said. “I knew I was playing well and I had the ability to win but to have two victories in one week is really special and something I could never have dreamed of achieving. I’ve changed a few things recently, but I would say it is hard work that has got me right up there.”

Hammer is looking continue his meteoric rise in Germany this week and is relishing the chance to play in front of the home crowds.

“Playing on home soil is always great,” he said. “I can have my coaches around me who I have been with for over five years now. It’s nice to have some friends here too, which always gives me a confidence boost.

“The course is in great condition and it’s important to hit fairways and greens this week because the rough is pretty thick.”

Hammer will be joined in Neuburg an der Donau by the in-form Freddy Schott, who has recorded four top-four finishes in his last five starts and Road to Mallorca Number Four Clément Sordet.
