(Reuters) - Frenchman Gregory Havret surged into a two shot lead midway through the second round of The Barclays Scottish Open.
The in-form 30 year old blitzed his way to a seven under par 64 for a ten under tally of 132, two ahead of Argentina's Andres Romero (67) and England's Simon Khan (67) on another calm day at Loch Lomond.
Swede Pelle Edberg (68) was a further stroke back on seven under along with late starters Phil Mickelson of America, Finn Mikko Ilonen and England's Graeme Storm.
World Number 12 Sergio Garcia fired a 65 to join Englishmen Ian Poulter and Phillip Archer on six under.
Havret has turned his form around in the last two weeks, finishing joint 15th at the Open de France ALSTOM and tied for third at the Smurfit Kappa European Open in Ireland.
The Frenchman did not drop a shot all day at the picturesque setting of Loch Lomond and moved clear of the field with a dazzling run of five birdies in six holes on the back nine.
While Havret sported a wide grin at the end of his round, Smurfit Kappa European Open champion Colin Montgomerie and World Number 11 Retief Goosen were likely to be experiencing different emotions.
Montgomerie (74) and Goosen (73) look likely to miss the halfway cut after finishing one over par on 143.
