The Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos will take place at Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort on September 23-26, 2022. Marcel Schneider sealed victory in 2021 with a dramatic eagle putt on his way to earning DP World Tour playing rights.

Wallace seals promotion

The Open de Portugal first appeared on the European Challenge Tour International Schedule in 2017 as a co-sanctioned event with the DP World Tour, with Matt Wallace winning the event wire-to-wire to secure European Tour graduation. The Englishman has since won three further events on the top tier and finished third at the 2019 PGA Championship.

Dimi’s maiden win

Dimitrios Papadatos secured his maiden Challenge Tour title by carding a gritty three under par final round of 69 to win the 2018 Open de Portugal @ Morgado Golf Resort by one shot.

Higgo claims life-changing Tour card

Garrick Higgo received DP World Tour playing rights after winning the 2020 Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos, an event which was dual-ranked between the DP World Tour and Challenge Tour.

The 2019 Sunshine Tour rookie of the year finished on 19 under par, one stroke clear of Spain’s Pep Angles who finished second on 18 under par.

Higgo has since gone on to win two additional DP World Tour titles and the 2021 Palmetto Championship on the PGA Tour.
