Søren Kjeldsen holds a three shot lead going into the final round of the Volvo Masters at Valderrama.
Kjeldsen is on eight under par after completing a third round 69 this morning while Sergio Garcia and Lee Wetswood are on five under.
Westwood will need to overhaul the Dane if he is to claim The Order of Merit title as all of the other contenders seem to be out of contention.
Robert Karlsson conceded his hopes of being the European Tour's number one this season were out of his hands.
The Swede completed a one over par 72 in the third round of the season ending event, and although closest money list challenger Padraig Harrington was alongside him on five over par, he was no longer the biggest danger.
Harrington, who needed a top two finish, said after his 71: "You've got to think I'm out of it and the 16th was the killer." Bunkered in two, he came out to ten feet, but three putted for a double bogey six.
Karlsson stated: "It's in Lee's hands and it has been for some time now. I've not holed enough putts."
