Rory McIlroy produced a sensational third round 65 at Wentworth Club to move firmly into contention at the BMW PGA Championship.
The 20 year old from Northern Ireland came in with a tremendous five under 32 to set the clubhouse target at nine under par.
“It was a great day and I've put myself in a it great position to try and win this tournament,” said McIlroy.
“I came here this year with a bit of a different mind set, just trying to put my ball in the fairway and not being too aggressive off the tee. Because there's a lot of holes out there that you get on the tee, and a four or a par is a great score and you move on, because you know that the back nine presents a few opportunities to make a few birdies.”
Out on the course, Paul Casey had extended his advantage to three shots, reaching 12 under after ten holes.
Wentworth local Ross Fisher was also looking good, the European Open winner picking up five shots with a hole to play to claim third place at eight under.
Denmark’s Søren Kjeldsen and another Englishman, Anthony Wall, were both seven under out on the course.
Meanwhile Casey was taking a conservative approach in his effort to preserve his lead, but still managed to pick up four strokes without a bogey thanks to some precise iron approaches.
