Louis Oosthuizen has won the 2012 Genworth Performance Award after an outstandingly consistent campaign which yielded two European Tour titles and culminated in him finishing in third place in The Race to Dubai.
The award recognises outstanding consistency across all the Genworth Statistics Categories over the course of the season, and the World Number Seven was a worthy winner having topped the Stroke Average category.
Over the course of 16 European Tour appearances – which included his victories in the Africa Open and the Maybank Malaysian Open – Oosthuizen had a superb Stroke Average of just 69.4.
A Scrambles success rate of 71.5% saw him top that category too, whilst his Greens in Regulation figure of 80.48% was no less impressive.
The South African was also consistently one of the best putters on Tour, an attribute which helped him finish third in the Prize Money per Event category.
Oosthuizen, who received the award from Kevin Fleming, Vice President of New Markets, Genworth, said: “I was obviously delighted to receive the Genworth Performance Award.
“There are so many great players out here on The European Tour, so to finish top of the Stroke Averages shows what a good season I had last year. It’s always nice to be recognised for your consistency, so I’ll be putting the award next to my other trophies. Hopefully I can win it again this year!”
Fleming said: “Genworth are delighted to present the 2012 Performance Award to Louis. Genworth Statistics are key to understanding the intricacies of the players' game, and giving them data to target greater improvement. Louis gave an outstanding performance in 2012 – we wish him all the best for 2013.”
