Gary Orr, who got the BMW PGA Championship underway in glorious sunshine this morning, took the early clubhouse lead with a two under par round of 70 at Wentworth Club.
Orr was the first player on the tee at Wentworth’s famous West Course’s and carded his first birdie of the day at the fourth hole when he holed a 10 footer.
He followed that with two bogeys, three putting on the fifth hole before doing the same on the sixth. However a fine back nine saw the Scot card birdies on the 12th, 16th and 17th holes to move to the top of the leader board.
Orr said: “I played solidly today. I was pleased. I made a couple of mistakes but apart from that I played well. I played well on the back nine so I was pleased to finish in a good way.”
