Ian Poulter stormed into a four shot lead at the weather-interrupted Barclays Singapore Open on Saturday morning after resuming his second round in stunning style at Sentosa Golf Club.
First round leader Poulter only managed three holes of his second round on Friday due to further delays, but quickly picked up two shots to join Daniel Chorpa, in the clubhouse after a bogey free five under 66, and qualifier Chan Yih-shin of Chinese Taipei at seven under overnight.
But in overcast conditions on the third morning, Poulter continued to show no ill-affect of a six week break following the end of a solid season on the US PGA Tour and reeled off a further three birdies to reach the turn in five under 31 before adding to his lead with another at the tenth.
Chan had picked up three shots over his first seven holes on Friday night before bad light halted play, but unlike Poulter, found going tough this morning and was unable to add to his total to remain three under with three to play.
With Australia's Andrew Dodt (68) and China's former Asian number one Liang Wen-chong (68) already in the clubhouse after finishing yesterday, Dane Søren Kjeldsen, Ernie Els, home favourite Lam Chih Bing and Sweden's Niclas Fasth joined the duo at five under.
World Number Two Phil Mickelson, meanwhile, continued to struggle for consistency after spreading three bogeys across his card against three birdies and an eagle to improve to four under overall through 13.
After a second consecutive 69 on Friday Madrid Masters champion Ross McGowan, Australia's Scott Hend (66) and India's Gaganjeet Bhullar (67) were safely in the clubhouse at four under awaiting the start of Saturday's third round, which will be played off two tees in order to make up the five hours lost over the first two days.
Padraig Harrington is set to beat the cut after a strong back nine on Friday rescued a second round 69 to move to one-over-par, although Australian Geoff Ogilvy, currently ranked fifth in the Race to Dubai, is set to miss out.
