Robert Allenby, one behind Steven Richardson at the start of the final round, set out three ahead of Bernhard Langer, and it was the German who launched a strong challenge. Langer picked up six birdies in the first seven holes on the way to a 66, but Allenby, out in 34, followed a bogey at the 12th with a birdie at the 14th and another at the 18th where he hit a 70-yards lob wedge to three feet. Then Allenby holed a 45-foot putt on the first extra hole - the 421 yards 15th - for victory.
