Colin Montgomerie scored seven birdies in his last 11 holes to be home in 30 for a record equalling last round of 65 and a five stroke win over Retief Goosen. It was Montgomerie's 13th European Tour win and he was full of praise for the sponsors and the Slaley Hall Golf Course. "It's a great, great venue and I had a terrific week," he said. Montgomerie had only two bogeys in the four rounds and, like Goosen, had four scores in the 60s.
