Tom Lehman teed off on the last day at 15 under par with Nick Faldo at nine under and Mark Brooks and Vijay Singh at eight under. Lehman, out in 35, was back to 14 under with Fred Couples having reduced his deficit from eight to two and Nick Faldo with a 30 foot putt at the ninth at 11 under. Lehman birdied the 12th as Couples faltered. Ernie Els, Mark McCumber, who eventually set the clubhouse target, and Brooks all challenged - Faldo lost ground with a drive into the bunker at 15 - but Lehman emerged as champion.
