Jesper Parnevik, one ahead of Colin Montgomerie entering the final round, was soon behind. Montgomerie began with five straight birdies; Parnevik countered with birdies at four and five but Montgomerie, despite bogeys at six and seven, was out in 32 to Parnevik's 33 to share the lead. Parnevik wedged to two feet for a birdie at the 11th. Montgomerie dropped a shot at the 13th. Then Parnevik made birdie to Montgomerie's bunkered bogey at the 14th and moved clear when Montgomerie bogeyed the 15th.
