The Italian Open has been a staple part of the European Tour since 1971. This year's edition was played at the Golf Club Milano on a course that had to be expertly cared for after some torrential rains at the beginning of the tournament.
For the second week in a row it was a home player who won the spoils having seen Joost Luiten win the KLM Open in his native country of Holland. This week it was the turn of Francesco Molinari to wow the home crowds and records a first European Tour win since the Open de Espana in 2012.
