The field for the 2001 Cisco World Match Play is complete as Seve Ballesteros was announced as the 12th man this morning.
At 24 years old Ballesteros became the youngest to win the World Match Play championship in 1981. He went on to take the title four more times over the next ten years. In 1994 he finished runner up to Ernie Els but hasn’t played at the World Match Play since.
The inclusion of Ballesteros comes after Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam and Adam Scott were announced early last week and Robert Allenby pulled out of the event. With three days to go until the championship begins, the complete line up stands as:
Seve Ballesteros, Thomas Bjorn, Darren Clarke, Nick Faldo Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington, Colin Montgomerie, Adam Scott, Vijay Singh, Mike Weir, defending champion Lee Westwood and Ian Woosnam.
