Singh sets sights on victory at Natadola Bay

Home favourite Vijay Singh insists he is fully focused on victory at this week's Fiji International as his vision for Natadola Bay Golf Club edges closer to becoming a complete reality.

The Fijian star has featured in all three stagings of his home event, including last year's when it was co-sanctioned by the European Tour for the first time, but he has also been doing a lot of work without his clubs.

The three-time Major Championship winner has been heavily involved in the changes made at the stunning venue on the Pacific island but is hopeful he can now leave that element of his work to one side and improve on his best finish of tied third here in 2015.

"I hope I can just focus on the game but there are a couple more holes to go, we only did about 80 per cent of the work, I'm always looking for things to improve," he said.

"I'm coming off from playing some good golf in the States so hopefully I can focus and do well this year.

"I think they're all waiting for me to play some good golf here, I've come close to playing good golf here.

"It would be great to win, especially after the redesign, I'm really happy with the work we've done and I just want to go out and play it the way I know how and take my mind away from so many distractions that go on here at home.

"I think I can do that, just focus a little bit harder."

Singh is one of three Masters Tournament winners playing this week with Mike Weir and Angel Cabrera also teeing it up, and the 54 year old is hopeful the event will continue to attract big stars in the future, with American Ryder Cup stars Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker winning the last two editions.

"I was surprised to see Angel here, he's a really good player and also Mike," he said. "It's nice to see them here and people can actually see Angel play, who's won the Masters, won the US Open and Mike, so people can go out and see these guys can still play.

"Then you've got some good players from Asia and Europe as well, this is one of the stronger fields we've had so hopefully we can build from here in years to come.

"I've been talking to friends about this golf course because it's great, it's a great place to come for a holiday and play some golf at the same time, hopefully in the future we can achieve that."
