Sustainability at The 2023 Genesis Scottish Open

At the Genesis Scottish Open, we are committed to creating a sustainable event. To help reduce our environmental impact we are:

  • Providing multiple recycling bins around the course.
  • Installing water stations across the course and Championship village for players, spectators and staff and encouraging the use of reusable water bottles.
  • Ensuring our on-course catering outlets use only wooden cutlery, paper straws, 100% biodegradable food trays and 100% compostable hot drink cups.
  • Ensuring our generators on-site are run on HVO bio-fuel.
  • Ensuring all our branding is made from recyclable and sustainable materials.
  • Ensuring local suppliers and seasonal foods are prioritised and celebrated.
  • Increasing public transport provision from Edinburgh with free shuttle buses running from Longniddry Rail Station and augmented service bus X5 and 124 timetables.
  • Implementing digital ticketing and programmes to reduce paper waste, ink use and haulage.
  • Working with NatureScot to preserve areas of The Renaissance Club under SSSI protection. Spectator walkways routed to avoid protected areas.
