The Iberdrola Open returns to The European Tour International Schedule following the inaugural event in 2010, when Sweden’s Peter Hanson defeated home favourite Alejandro Canizares in a play-off to kick-off a superb season that saw him make The Ryder Cup Team. Although the tournament itself was new to Tour Members last year, the venue was not, as Pula Golf Club – situated in the north-east of the island by the town of Son Servera – was the host of the old Mallorca Classic tournament for five years between 2003 and 2007.
