Viktor Hovland has started working with a new swing coach ahead of his return to the DP World Tour at this week’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

The Norwegian began consulting TJ Yeaton after splitting from Joe Mayo for the second time towards the end of last year.

Hovland first parted ways from Mayo in 2023, a few months after becoming the FedEx Cup Champion, and went on to work with Grant Waite and Dana Dahlquist, before returning to work with Mayo ahead of the US PGA Championship in May.

Ryder Cup star Hovland, who has American Yeaton with him in Dubai, returned to competitive action for the first time after a four-month break at The Sentry earlier this month, finishing tied 36th at the Signature Event on the PGA TOUR.

The World Number Eight is returning to full fitness after breaking a toe in his right foot in a freak accident prior to the PGA TOUR’s season-opening event.

At Kapalua’s Plantation Course in Hawaii, the two-time DP World Tour winner was seen reverting to a double-pump drive – a move aimed to enable him to turn more on the backswing.

The Dubai Desert Classic has again drawn an elite international field to Emirates Golf Club, with Hovland returning for the first time since he won the Dallah Trophy in 2022 – his most recent DP World Tour title.

He is in an elite international field for the first Rolex Series event of 2025, including defending champion Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood and Adam Scott.
