Virtual Reality: A day in the life of Ian Poulter

If you were to spend an entire tournament day with a European Tour professional, what would it look like?

When would you arrive at the course? What would you do when you got there? How would you warm up? How might you feel on the first tee? What would you do after the round?

For us mere mortals, it is an experience we will never actually have first-hand but now, we give you the unique opportunity to stand alongside one of the world’s best before, during and after a European Tour competition round.

On day one of this week’s UBS Hong Kong Open, we tailed 2010 champion Ian Poulter from the start to the finish of his day at Hong Kong Golf Club and you can come along for the ride, too, thanks to our GoPro 360-degree virtual reality rig.

From the early morning wake-up to warm-ups to the pressures of the first tee. From isolated jungle-esque tee boxes to 18th green frustrations, recording areas, media obligations and fan adulation, watch the below to experience all the above and more in the first person.

The video is our second VR piece of the week and latest in a range of new, innovative virtual reality videos we have been creating this year to place fans closer than ever to our players, events and venues.

Check out the360-degree guide to the famous 18th at Hong Kong Golf Clubthat we filmed with Nacho Elvira earlier in the week, orthis videoof Danny Willett, Victor Dubuisson and Soomin Lee playing the famous 14th hole at Wentworth at this year's BMW PGA Championship.

We also gave Poults the chance to watch the virtual experience back on a Samsung Gear VR headset. Check out the below to see whether he enjoyed it…
