Branden Grace became the first man to successfully defend the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters as he shot a final round 69 to win by two-shots over Spain’s Rafa Cabrera-Bello and Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen. The win puts Grace on the verge of entering the top ten in the world rankings for the first time in his career and moves him to second in the Race to Dubai standings.
A red hot putter was key to the South African’s victory this week as he led the field in putts per round averaging just 28.5. Using an Odyssey, Versa WBW V-Line putter, Grace averaged just 1.708 putts per GIR, the fourth best in field.
Grace’s touch around the greens was exemplary as he managed 100% in sand saves using as set of Callaway, Mack Daddy 2 wedges (52°, 56° & 60°).
The South African averaged 306 yards off the tee using a Callaway, Big Bertha Alpha 816 DD (9°), the sixth best in field.
Using a set of Callaway, X Forged 13 Irons (3-9) the back-to-back winner hit 76.4% of the greens in regulation, which was the 19th best in field.
