Scott Hend continued his recent good form with a second-round 68 to set the clubhouse target on day two of the KLM Open.
The Australian was beaten in a play-off by Alex Noren at the Omega European Masters last week but bounced back well with opening rounds of 67-68 at The Dutch to get to seven under and open up a one-shot lead.
Ross Fisher fired a 66 to sit a shot behind Hend alongside Frenchman Mike Lorenzo-Vera and overnight leader Ben Evans, who was yet to tee off.
Hend has enjoyed an excellent 2016, winning the True Thailand Classic Presented by Chang to go with four other tops tens and representing his country at the Men's Olympic Golf Competition.
Starting on the back nine, Hend took a share of the lead as he birdied the 13th and 14th for the second day running but he gave a shot back on the next before hitting the summit again on the first. Another bogey followed but he used his distance to birdie the par five sixth before a towering iron and 15-foot putt saw him take the lead on his own on the seventh.
Fisher was playing in the same group as Hend and the duo were tied in second at the turn with the Englishman making birdies on the tenth, 12th, 14th and 17th. The 2007 champion then produced one of the shots of the day as he put his approach on the third to three feet for a tap-in birdie before parring his way home.
Lorenzo-Vera had held a share of the lead when he eagled the sixth but bogeys on the eighth and 11th saw him fall back before a birdie-birdie finish.
England's Matthew Southgate produced the lowest round of the day so far with a 65 as he bounced back from a bogey on the 13th with birdies on the 15th and 17th before coming home in 30 to get to five under.
Spaniard Nacho Elvira had five birdies and two bogeys in a 68 to also sit in that group alongside South Korea's Soomin Lee and Paraguayan Fabrizio Zanotti, who both signed for a 69.
Alejandro Cañizares had an early birdie to join a large group of players on course two off the lead, with Daniel Brooks and Noren a further shot back.
