Kristoffer Reitan had two reasons to celebrate after the BMW International Open as he topped the European Swing Rankings and earned his maiden Open Championship appearance at Royal Portrush Golf Club.
The Norwegian maintained his brilliant form over the eight event stretch with a fourth placed finish at the Golfclub München Eichenried to overhaul France's Martin Couvra, who missed the cut in Germany.
The 27-year-old, who secured his first DP World Tour title at the Soudal Open in May, was rewarded with 200,000 US dollars for first place in the rankings, but he can book flights to Northern Ireland for the final Major Championship of the campaign.
Reitan will look to improve on his only previous appearance at Major Championship, when he failed to make the cut at the 2018 U.S. Open Championship while still an amateur.
On winning the European Swing, Reitan said: "It means a lot. It's like an in season kind of ranking and good names have won the Swing so far, so I'm happy to be among those names.
"I'm looking forward to it (The Open) like crazy. The Scottish Open next week is going to be a blast. Just nice to get into the bigger events, yeah I'm very excited.
"I just need to stay grounded and try to work hard, like some parts of my game today I see maybe my game not fitting a firmer golf course. I just need to address certain issues and keep working at it."
John Parry has had a stellar campaign since returning to the DP World Tour, currently occupying sixth place on the Race to Dubai rankings.
He secured his second title at this level at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in December, 14 years after his maiden crown, to earn his second start at the Open.
Chinese star Haotong Li will make his fourth appearance at the 153rd Open in County Antrim, while New Zealand's Daniel Hillier will aim to improve on his 19th placed finish at last year's Open Championship.
The fifth highest-ranked player on the Race to Dubai Rankings without an exemption to punch his ticket to Royal Portrush was Shaun Norris, with 43-year-old South African set for his sixth start at the event.
