Relentless Noren forges further ahead

Alex Noren turned in a four under par 32 to extend his lead during the third round of the Nordea Masters.

The 29 year old, who won his second European Tour title in Wales earlier this year, birdied the fifth and sixth to hold off a fast-charging Bubba Watson.

And Noren hit a sparkling second to two feet at the par five ninth to set-up an eagle and move to 15 under par in his native Stockholm.

American Ryder Cup star Watson had birdied the first three holes to crank up the pressure on overnight leader Noren, and despite two further gains in an outward 31 he was four adrift.

With the lengthy Bro Hof Slott layout well suited to his game, the big-hitting left-hander wasted little time making his move.

He took advantage of the opening par five, birdied the next and completed his hattrick with an approach to five feet at the third.

Watson spun his approach to eight feet at the sixth but missed a ten foot eagle putt at the ninth after a wonderful approach and had to settle for a fifth birdie of the day.

Korean youngster Noh Seung-yul was four under for the day to move into a distant third on seven under, as the field - with the notable exception of Watson - struggled to keep tabs on the runaway leader.

Noren was looking to become the fifth different Swede to win a European Tour event on home soil.
