England’s Lee Slattery joined Jamie Donaldson at the top of the D+D REAL Czech Masters leaderboard as the second round began in Prague.
Wales’ Donaldson, who can seal a Ryder Cup debut next month with a top-seven finish at Albatross Golf Resort, started the day with a one shot lead following an opening six under par 66.
An early birdie at the 12th was cancelled out with a bogey at the short next, but the 38 year old returned to seven under with a birdie at the tricky 17th for the second day running.
Slattery, whose only win in ten years on The European Tour came in Madrid in 2011, began his day with a birdie at the first and picked up further shots at the seventh and tenth to claim a share of the lead.
France’s Gregory Bourdy kicked off his day with a hat-trick of birdies from the tenth to move into third on six under, alongside Dane Søren Kjeldsen.
Last week’s runner-up Bradley Dredge was fifth on five under following a birdie at the 17th.
Donaldson’s playing partner and fellow Ryder Cup hopeful Stephen Gallacher was one over for the day through eight holes and one under for the week, while the third player in the field looking to secure a place at Gleneagles – Dutchman Joost Luiten – was among the later starters.
Donaldson started for home with a birdie at the first, and when a brilliant iron to six feet at the third led to another gain, the World Number 29 had reached nine under for the tournament.
Slattery and Bourdy were one behind, with a three shot gap back to Kjeldsen, Dredge, Tommy Fleetwood and a charging Gallacher in fourth.
Dubai Desert Classic winner Gallacher had matched Donaldson’s impressive tee shot at the third and it meant a fourth birdie running for the 39 year old.
