Born in Carnoustie, Scotland, Doug emigrated at the age of 23, first to Canada where he became an assitant professional, then to the United States where he took American citizenship in 1976. The following year he won the US PGA Stroke Play title. Has plenty of experience on the US Senior Tour and finished runner-up in the 1994 Senior British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes behind Tom Wargo.
