Doug was destined for a career in sport as an excellent all-rounder. Football, basketball, cricket, table tennis and squash were all favourite sports before he turned to golf at the age of 16. Before turning professional in 1969 he gained caps for England and British Youths. Now Director of Golf at Silvermere GC in Surrey.
