Enjoyed the finest season of his career in 2001 when he claimed two outstanding victories on his way to heading the European Seniors Tour Order of Merit. Won both The Senior British Open Championship, presented by MasterCard, and the De Vere PGA Seniors Championship on his way to winning the John Jacobs Trophy, but has since suffered health problems and has struggled to emulate that form. Did show signs of recovery when he claimed a tie for second place at the Nigel Mansell Classic, presented by Sunseeker International in 2003, but his season ended prematurely a month or so later when he had to return to Australia after his mother had a stroke. Been a regular visitor to Europe since the 1970s and he won once on The European Tour when he tied for first place with Christy O’Connor Jnr at the 1975 Martini International. Most of his victories were achieved on the Australasian Tour, where he won more than 20 times. Represented Australia in two World Cups and at the end of 2001 he was a member of Gary Player’s Rest of the World team at the inaugural UBS Cup match at Kiawah Island in 2001. He works as a commentator for Fox TV when not competing on the European Seniors Tour.
