Missed the cut by a shot at the 2004 Qualifying School First Stage and was prevented from returning the following year due to suffering broken ribs in a serious jet boat accident. As soon as his injuries had healed, the former New Zealand amateur international began preparing for the 2006 School and came through six rounds to secure his card. In fact, he finished the testing marathon with a birdie to close with a final round 69 and, crucially, take sole charge of third place – therefore avoiding a four-man play-off for the remaining three fully exempt spots. Winner of eight national amateur titles in New Zealand, before turning professional in March 2005. His sole top ten finish in 2007 came at The 51st PGA Seniors Championship.
