Known as Fred Flinstone through his position as owner, manager and professional at the Bedrock Golf Club in Massachusetts. Was Massachusetts State Amateur Champion in 1962 and turned professional the following year. He has been North East Region Senior Open Champion three times and North East PGA Senior Champion twice. Joe has made regular appearances on the European Seniors Tour since 1989 but has yet to improve on his joint third finish in the 1997 Beko Classic. Twice in the top ten his seven appearances in 1999, Joe saved his best until the end, finishing fifth in the Greek Seniors Open, the penultimate event of the year.
