The need to work his way through college for a BA Degree in Economics gave Lloyd a bonus on top of the pocket money he earned as a spare-time caddie. He was given practice facilities at two local clubs, and used them well enough to twice win his State Amateur Championship. In the professional ranks he briefly experienced the US PGA Tour and has amassed a number of regional victories.
