Turned professional at the beginning of 2003 and took the Challenge Tour Rankings by storm. His best performance came in the dual ranking BMW Russian Open where he finished second to Marcus Fraser after a sudden-death play-off. Suffered a serious dip in form for the next three seasons but, under the tutelage of six time European Tour winner Anders Forsbrand and Fredrik Jendelid, the coaches in charge of Austria’s Team Telekom which includes Markus Brier, he began rebuilding his swing and confidence before anointing his comeback with victory at the 2007 Lexus Open. Completed a fine 2007 season in style by winning the European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage at San Roque Club. His manager, Ali Rosker, is also his coach when he is at home in Graz and has been since Wiegele was 16. In 2010 he won the Kärnten Golf Open presented by Markus Brier Foundation in his native Austria. Victory was assisted by a hole in one at the eighth hole – coincidentally the same hole he aced in the same tournament a year earlier. Later in 2010 he won the Saint Omer Open presented by Neuflize OBC to earn full rights on The European Tour in 2011. Finished 83rd in The 2011 Race to Dubai, but in 2012 was limited to just seven appearances because of a hip injury and has a medical extension for 2013.
