The Norwegian developed Stevens-Johnson syndrome, an autoimmune skin reaction, in around 1996, which affected her vision, before much later taking the decision to surgically remove her left eye due to discomfort.

She is the first visually impaired golfer to compete on the G4D Tour and is guided by her husband, Birger.
