Born of American parents in Las Palmas, capital of the Canary Islands, Linhart spent his early years as a professional playing mini-tour events in the USA. Turned professional in 1982 and spent five years as an assistant professional in New Jersey. Took Spanish citizenship in the 1980s and became a regular on the European Tour. Won his maiden Senior Tour title in 2015, his third year on the over-50s circuit.
