That followed his best season to date in 2003 in which he finished 65th in the Order of Merit. Has thrice graduated from the Final Stage of The European Tour Qualifying School, in 2000, 2002 and again in 2005. Was also a successful Challenge Tour graduate, finishing 13th in 1996 and, after losing his card in 1997, again in 1999, winning the First Cuba Grand Final to climb into the top 15. A quick learner, he took just 18 months to achieve a scratch handicap after taking up the game at 14. Helped New Zealand to victory in the 1992 World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy.
