Michel was a regular competitor on The European Tour during the early 1980s and while he did not win, he did produce a number of fine performances including a tie for eigth at the 1983 Timex Open and a tie for seventh at the 1985 Tunisian Open. The Frenchman also produced top ten finishes at the 1985 Peugeot French Open and the 1987 Volvo Belgian Open and in 1991 came close to winning on the Challenege Tour when he finished runner-up to compatriot Roger Sabarros at the Bulles Laurent Perrier tournament. Michel won the French National title in 1986. He turns 50 on March 7, 2003.
