Highlighted the importance of dual ranking events for Challenge Tour players by taking second place at the 2005 Aa St Omer Open after losing out in a sudden-death play-off to the Swede Joakim Bäckström at the Aa St Omer Golf Club in northern France. With significantly large prize funds on offer, the dual ranking events are like Majors to the Challenge Tour players, and Dwyer’s second place finish in France secured him a cheque for 244,440 – over half of his season’s earnings in 2005 – and was the most important finish of his career to date, securing a place on The 2006 European Tour after spending six years on the Challenge Tour.
