Nyköping, Sweden Place of Birth5′ 8″ (174cm) HeightCars, all sports Interests1991 Qualifying SchoolInjury ruled him out of most of the 2006 season after he suffered a partial rupture of the internal abdominal oblique muscle and was unable to swing a club from April. Son of a Swedish national swimming champion, golf was not his preferred sport as a youngster. Handball was a bigger lure until he caught the golf bug and won junior and senior amateur honours. Changed coach in 1997 to Swedish Federation’s Steffan Johansson and became more positive and three European Tour titles soon followed. His victory in the 2000 Scottish PGA Championship at Gleneagles came after a comeback from injury, initially thought to be to the wrist but diagnosed by Dr Michael Jansch, a Stockholm chiropractor, as an injury to the neck and back vertebrae being out of alignment. Once cured, he won at Gleneagles then added the Volvo Masters title, producing The European Tour Shot of the Year. Enjoyed a Ryder Cup debut in 2002 but in recent seasons has concentrated on his golf course design company.
